Permits to sell gold will not be issued to those below 18 years of age, the Ministry of Interior (MoI) has said.
In a post on its Facebook page, the MoI has listed a series of conditions to get the mandatory no-objection certificate (NOC) to sell gold in Qatar.
The NOCs issued by the ministry can be obtained from different security departments - Capital, Rayyan, North, South and Dukhan - as well as from the Gold Permits office at Souq Waqif on fulfilling certain criteria.
The MoI has stressed that its measures are aimed at ensuring the safety of the personal belongings of people.
For women, the conditions include producing the gold to be sold at the permit counter, the purchase bill(s), if available, and the original ID card for citizen and resident owners and passport for visitors, according to the MoI post.
Men can only sell the gold that belongs to a first-degree relative (mother, wife, sister, grandmother) and second-degree relative (sister of father or mother). They have to produce the gold to be sold, the original ID card of the owner and purchase bill(s), if available. 
In case of gold coins or men’s gold watches, too, purchase bills have to be presented. If a gold coin or watch is produced through a representative, that person should produce the original ID card of the owner and the purchase bill(s).
A fee of QR10 will be charged for issuing an NOC, to be paid through a debit/credit card.
