Economy Minister to participate in Paris meetings
Qatar will take part in the Cadran Hotel meetings scheduled to be held in Paris today.
The Qatari delegation to the one-day meetings will be headed by HE the Minister of Economy and Commerce Sheikh Ahmed bin Jassim bin Mohamed al-Thani with a number of chief executive officers (CEOs) and businessmen taking part.
The meetings seek to strengthen trade and investment relations and support community dialogue between businessmen of both countries in order to develop the partnership between the Qatari and French companies and work to increase exports of Qatar at the French market.
The meetings are considered an important step towards expanding co-operation and creating new opportunities for establishing investment projects between different companies and businessmen in both countries.
Minister of Culture meets Moldovan counterpart
HE the Minister of Culture and Sports Salah bin Ghanem bin Nasser al-Ali met the Moldovan Minister of Culture Monica Babuc in Doha yesterday.
They discussed the scope of bilateral co-operation in the cultural field.
Minister Salah bin Ghanem bin Nasser al-Ali also met Azerbaijan’s Minister of Culture and Tourism Abulfas Garayev.
They discussed bilateral co-operation in the cultural fields and in sports. They also discussed ways to enhance co-operation in the two fields.
Assistant FM meets Russian president’s envoy
HE the Assistant Foreign Minister for Foreign Affairs Sultan bin Saad al-Meraikhi has met the Russian President’s Special Representative for the Middle East and Africa and Deputy Foreign Minister Mikhail Bogdanov, currently visiting the country.
During the meeting, they discussed bilateral relations and ways of enhancing them, as well as issues of mutual concern.
Advisory Council discusses draft law on biological arms
The Advisory Council yesterday held its weekly meeting chaired by HE the Speaker Mohamed bin Mubarak al-Khulaifi.
At outset of the meeting, HE the Secretary-General of the Advisory Council Fahad bin Mubarak al-Khayareen read out the agenda. Then the Council endorsed the minutes of its previous session.
The Council discussed a report by the Legal and Legislative Affairs Committee on a draft law on biological weapons.
The Council decided to refer its recommendations thereon to the Cabinet.
Meanwhile, the Advisory Council’s Services and Public Facilities Committee met yesterday under the chairmanship of its rapporteur Saqr Fahd al-Muraikhi.
The committee resumed the study of a draft law on protecting privacy of personal data and decided to invite specialists from the Ministry of Transport and Communications to attend its next meeting to present the ministry’s views on the draft law.
Three men jailed for attempting to steal building materials
Three Bangladeshi men have been sentenced by a Doha Criminal Court to one year in jail and subsequent deportation for attempting to steal building materials. Local Arabic daily Arrayah reported yesterday that the defendants tried to pilfer copper pipes from an under construction building. They were spotted by a person who alerted the police. One defendant was arrested on the spot while the others were nabbed later.
The trio admitted their guilt at the police and prosecution interrogation.
