Premier sends message to UAE deputy PM
UAE’s Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior Lieutenant General Sheikh Saif bin Zayed al-Nahyan received a written message from HE the Prime Minister and Minister of Interior Sheikh Abdullah bin Nasser bin Khalifa al-Thani dealing with relations between Qatar and the UAE and issues of common concern.
Qatar’s ambassador to the UAE Hadi bin Nasser Mansour al-Hajri handed over the message during a meeting yesterday with Sheikh Saif bin Zayed al-Nahyan in Abu Dhabi.
Qatar-Sweden ties discussed
HE the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of State for Cabinet Affairs Ahmed bin Abdullah bin Zaid al-Mahmoud met the State Secretary for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Sweden Annika Soder and her accompanying delegation.
During the meeting, they discussed bilateral relations and ways of enhancing them in various fields.
They also reviewed a number of regional and international issues of mutual concern.
Ambassador of Sweden to Qatar Eva Bolano attended the meeting.
Separately, HE the Assistant Foreign Minister for Foreign Affairs Sultan bin Saad al-Meraikhi also met the State Secretary for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Sweden Annika Soder.
They discussed bilateral relations and ways to further improve them.
Health Minister meets envoys
HE the Minister of Public Health Dr Hanan Mohamed al-Kuwari held separate meetings with Belgian ambassador to Qatar Christophe Payot and South Korean ambassador Park Heung-kyeong. During the two meetings, they discussed aspects of co-operation in the health sector.
Minister meets Sudanese official
HE the Minister of Transport and Communications Jassim Seif Ahmed al-Sulaiti met the Assistant of Sudanese President Dr Ibrahim Mahmoud Hamid in Doha yesterday. They discussed relations between Qatar and Sudan, especially in the field of transport and communications and ways of enhancing them.
113 consumer violations last month
The Ministry of Economy and Commerce (MEC) recorded 113 consumer violations in March, it was announced yesterday.
These were regarding various issues such as not posting proper price tags or service charges for the items on display or the offered services, increasing prices without prior approvals from the authority concerned, display of expired products, violating the terms and conditions of the warranty, not abiding by the mandatory price list for fruits and vegetables, violating the terms and conditions for special sales and promotions, and not issuing proper invoices for the purchase process, especially when not using Arabic language.
Such violations could be punishable by a fine of QR5,000 to QR30,000, depending on the type and circumstances of the violation, besides the administrative closure of the outlet for varying periods.
Cadillac STS-V models of 2004-2007 recalled
The Ministry of Economy and Commerce, in collaboration with Mannai Trading Company, has announced the recall of Cadillac STS-V models of 2004-2007 due to a possibility of the electrical terminals of the fuel pump to melt.
The MEC said the recall campaign comes within the framework of its ongoing efforts to protect consumers and ensure that car dealers follow up on vehicles’ defects and repair them.
The MEC will co-ordinate with the dealer to follow up on the maintenance and repair works and communicate with customers to ensure that the necessary repairs are carried out.

Bakery owner fined for building extra floor without permission
A Doha Misdemeanour Court has fined an owner of a bakery QR5,000 for building a second floor without obtaining proper approvals from the department concerned. Local Arabic daily Arrayah reported yesterday the Public Prosecution had accused the defendant of violating the building regulations in the country. Accordingly, the court established his guilt based on the inspection reports of the department concerned.
