Qatar University College of Arts and Sciences (QU-CAS) has signed an agreement with Katara Hospitality to provide QU students with the opportunity to benefit from multi-disciplinary training, and improve their skills in hospitality-related fields.
The agreement was signed by QU president Dr Hassan Rashid al-Derham and Katara Hospitality chief corporate services officer Salem al-Kubaisi in the presence of CAS dean Dr Eiman Mustafawi, CAS associate deans Dr Hassan Abdulaziz and Dr Steven Wright, among other guests and faculty members
The terms of the agreement include providing CAS undergraduate and graduate students with internships, training and scholarships, as well as organising joint events such as workshops and presentations.
Dr al-Derham said QU’s partnership with Katara Hospitality is aligned with the university’s capacity-building strategy to meet the needs of the society.
“The agreement reflects QU’s endeavours to develop good communication with the industry. Katara Hospitality is the best partner to promote such a concept and we hope that our students benefit from this MoU.”
Al-Kubaisi said: “We are honoured to work hand in hand with Qatar University as we create initiatives that foster the holistic growth of our indigenous population. This MoU is a testament of our ongoing commitment to creating unique employment and career development opportunities for promising young Qataris; further encouraging our nation’s youth to explore careers in Qatar’s burgeoning hospitality sector.”
Dr Mustafawi said the partnership exemplifies the kind of collaboration that should be seen more between academia and the industry and highlights the College’s ongoing efforts to expand its local and international connections.
“This agreement will provide our students with multi-disciplinary training through internship opportunities to enhance their skills in the hospitality related fields which reflects CAS’ goal for providing its students with unique educational experiences. Moreover, the agreement includes sponsorship opportunities.”
This is good for the students as well as the hospitality group, as this is an expanding industry in the future too. The technology is developing in a very fast pace in the hospitality sector and a lot of high paying jobs in this are becoming more noticeable: <a href="http://www.myweekendjobs.com/blog/89-13-high-paying-hospitality-jobs-and-careers.html" target="_blank" rel="dofollow”>hospitality jobs</a>
