Chances of scattered rain and thunder in Qatar

A wet weekend is on the cards as rain, thunder and strong winds are expected in the country, the weather office has said.
Scattered rain is expected on Thursday morning and again from Thursday night until Friday. The unstable weather, in both inshore and offshore areas, is the result of the extension of a low-pressure system, according to the Qatar Met department.
Weather charts showed that partly cloudy to cloudy conditions were expected in the country between Wednesday afternoon and Thursday morning, with a chance of scattered thundershowers.
“In addition, there are chances of scattered rain and thunder again from Thursday night until Friday,” the Met department said in its forecast.
Moderate to fresh winds (easterly to southeasterly) will prevail during this period, becoming strong at times, especially during thundershowers. This could be accompanied by a drop in visibility, the weather report noted.
Doha is among the places where rain is expected on Thursday. Scattered light rain was reported from some parts of the country on Wednesday.
The Sarayat season, as it is locally known, is usually associated with sudden weather changes that require constant follow-up. In this regard, the Met department has urged people to remain cautious and avoid sea activities.
The detailed forecast for Thursday is that thundershowers, along with strong winds, are expected in some places at first. Offshore areas, too, are likely to see strong winds and high seas due to thundery conditions in the early hours of the day.
The wind speed may go up to 25 knots during thundershowers, with the sea level rising to 8ft.
Moderate daytime temperature, along with slightly dusty and partly cloudy conditions, is likely in inshore areas. Offshore areas will also see partly cloudy to cloudy conditions.
The minimum and maximum temperatures in the country on Thursday are expected to be 20C and 34C, respectively, with the forecast for Doha being 22C and 30C.
The Met department has advised people to follow latest weather updates and warnings through its official website and different social media accounts.
