Two QF buildings win MEED quality awards

Qatar Foundation for Education, Science and Community Development (QF) has been officially recognised for two of its high calibre super structures by the 2016 MEED Quality Awards for project design and development.
Among seven other Qatari project winners, QF was awarded, ‘Residential Project of the Year’ for its male and female student housing, while ‘Building Project of the Year’ was clinched by the new QF Headquarters.
Participants were evaluated by an esteemed judging panel who assessed entries on excellence in design, construction, and engineering, as well as accomplishments in sustainability and contributions to the local economy.
Jassim Telefat, executive director of Qatar Foundation Capital Projects, said  “ Qatar Foundation’s repeated inclusion demonstrates our commitment to achieving excellence in innovation and sustainability, as well as our dedication to continuous growth and development in order to successfully serve the needs of Qatar. We believe in the importance of inspiring infrastructure in the process of unlocking human potential, which helps to foster an engaged society.”
Last year, Qatar Faculty of Islamic Studies (QFIS), a college of Hamad Bin Khalifa University and member of Qatar Foundation, won the award for the ‘MEED Quality Project of the Year’, as well as the ‘UrbaCon Trading & Contracting Social Infrastructure Project of the Year’.
Additionally, the Energy Management System, developed by QF in co-operation with Green Gulf Inc., was recognised as a national winner under the category of ‘Ramboll Sustainable Project of the Year’.
