For the third consecutive year, the Spanish April Fair celebrations are coming to town with the signature Spanish flamenco and other dances, live Spanish music and some savoury tapas in the traditional Spanish cuisine.
One of the most popular events held yearly in the Andalusian capital of Seville, Spain, the fair generally happens in April for six days. From around 9am to until 7am the following day, people fill up the streets before continuing the party in the tents of the fair.
“This is our third year organising this fair here in Qatar and we usually do it at the same time as it happens in Spain. All the performers will be coming from Spain for the party that begins at 7pm. Besides dances and great food, there will be awards for the best Spanish outfit of the night,” Paloma Garralda, the organiser of the event, told Community.  
On April 14, the party begins at 7pm and will continue till 2am with different performances at Traders Vic’s, Hilton Doha. Some of the highlights of the event include live band Topati, Andalusian live band from Cadiz and Sevilla, Spanish DJ Diego Aguas, Formigal, best outfit awards and a surprise in addition to a raffle draw where one person will win a return ticket to anywhere in Europe from Doha from Turkish Airlines.
“Ladies turn up in really beautiful and attractive traditional Spanish flamenco dresses and [we have a [Female Spanish Outfit Award] for them,” said Paloma.
For one week, life in Seville revolves around this fiesta. The music, food, dancing and general joy create a very special atmosphere. The April Fair is one of the most international and popular of Seville’s fiestas.
It was created in 1847 as a cattle fair, and over time the festive atmosphere took over the business aspect, and it became a permanent fixture in Seville’s social calendar.
For a week more than a thousand “casetas” or tents installed in the fairground area become the second home of the city’s inhabitants, a place where people come together to have fun and share experiences until the early hours of the morning.
The fiesta officially begins at midnight tomorrow with the “lighting test, the illumination of the thousands of multi-coloured light bulbs in the fairground and adorning the main gateway, which is almost 50 metres high and has a different motif every year. Once inside the gate you come to the casetas, and it is here where you really experience the fair.”
Throughout the fair, people wear typical Andalusian dress: the men wear the typical outfit of the farmworker, and the women wear flamenco or gypsy dresses. By day the fair is filled with horsewomen, riders and richly festooned carriages.

DJ Diego has more than 20 years of experience and has performed at renowned Spanish night clubs and gone on tour with famous musicians like Carlos Jean. He has put music to some of the most important sport world competitions, like the Kite surf world cup of Tarifa in Spain.
