Programme to promote brotherhood among Nepalese Muslims in Qatar

The Nepalese Muslim Society-Qatar (NMS) and Association of Noble Families (ANF) organised a “Brotherhood Union Programme” over the weekend.
The programme was chaired by NMS chairperson Abdul Hafiz Miya. Nasser Ali al-Ali, the chairman of Nasser Al Ali Enterprises, was the chief guest.
The programme started with a recitation from the Holy Qur’an and the Nepalese national anthem. NMS vice-chairperson Yasin Kharel Mama delivered the welcome speech while guests — Karim Baks Miya, BB Roshan Kharel, Maulana Mohammed Tahar, Moulana Khalik and Moulana Abubhakkar — talked about Muslim unity and brotherhood.
The chief guest talked about Qur’an and how it can clear any misconceptions about Islam. ANF chairperson Muhammad Karki said the objective of the programme was to reduce the distance between Nepalese Muslims in Qatar and enhance the feeling of brotherhood.
Various social service organisations were felicitated for their respective contributions to Muslim unity and brotherhood. ANF distributed a DVD with the Nepalese translation of Qur’an. It also launched its website on the occasion. The website can be accessed at www.anfnepal.com
NMS also honoured Nasser Ali al-Ali for his support for the society and orphaned and street children in Nepal.   Text and photos by Usha Wagle Guatam
