A 6-month diversion will be in place on a three-kilometre stretch of Al Jamaliya Road on both directions, starting from April 16.
During the period, traffic will be diverted to an adjacent, newly constructed temporary road with one lane in each direction.
The diversion is to allow for the upgrade of the existing road and the construction of a new dual carriageway with two lanes in each direction. The new road which is part of Al Jamaliya, Leatooriya, and Al Sheehaniya Expressway project will have permanent median island as well as pedestrian and cyclist pathways.
The construction of Al Jamaliya, Leatooriya, Al Sheehaniya project is part of Ashghal’s Expressway Programme, and it aims to enhance the traffic capacity and road safety in the area. The project also includes a wide range of works to develop the area’s infrastructure, installation of Intelligent Transport Systems, and a comprehensive drainage system.
