PM launches Imdad project

HE the Prime Minister and Minister of Interior Sheikh Abdullah bin Nasser bin Khalifa al-Thani inaugurated yesterday the first phase of Imdad project, which aims to develop a national information system to achieve sustainability of the economic and urbanisation levels in Qatar.
The launching ceremony took place in Sheraton Hotel in Doha and was attended by a number of Sheikhs and members of the Cabinet.
Delivering a speech on the occasion, the Prime Minister said that Qatar’s development in all sectors has come a long way in recent years, as the country looks to achieve its 2030 national vision of HH the Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad al-Thani.
The Prime Minister noted that Qatar’s robust development has led to an increase in the population. This, in turn, led to a surge in demand for strategic goods, whether they were produced locally or imported. As a result, the Prime Minister added, the country must develop a mechanism that can track demand and provide the necessary reserves of strategic goods to maintain stability of the Qatari society on the economic and social levels.
The Prime Minister stressed that the country’s leadership and its government are always looking to maintain the economic security of the state.
Imdad project provides a mechanism based on demand that enables the state to maintain a surplus of strategic goods at all times. The Prime Minister said that the current government fully realises that the project will also serve future generations. He expressed his hope that all the ministries and companies involved in the project will succeed in their mission.
After concluding his speech, the Prime Minister flagged off the project.
