HH the Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad al-Thani left Turkey yesterday afternoon, after attending the 13th session of the Islamic Summit Conference.
The Emir and the accompanying delegation were seen off at the Ataturk Airport by Turkish Deputy Prime Minister Numan Kurtulmus, Istanbul Governor Vasic Shahin, Qatari ambassador to Turkey Salim bin Mubarak al-Shafi, along with a number of Turkish officials and the
staff of the Qatari embassy.
The Emir sent a cable to President Recep Tayyip Erdogan expressing his thanks and appreciation for the warm reception and generous hospitality that were accorded to him and the
accompanying delegation.
He praised the efforts made by the Turkish president “which had a significant impact on outcome of the important summit in order to promote solidarity and co-operation among Islamic countries for the welfare and
interests of their peoples”.
He wished the Turkish president continued good health, happiness and success, and the brotherly Turkish people further progress and prosperity.
Earlier yesterday, HH the Emir met with Lebanese Prime Minister Tammam Salam and his accompanying delegation, on the sidelines of the Islamic summit at the Istanbul Congress Centre.
At the beginning of the meeting, the Lebanese prime minister renewed his thanks to HH the Emir on the role of the State of Qatar and the tireless efforts made by the concerned bodies in helping to free the Lebanese military personnel who were kidnapped in “Jarrod Arsal”.
Discussions also dealt with bilateral ties as well as the latest developments in the region,
especially on the Lebanese arena.
The meeting was attended by members of the official delegation accompanying the Emir.
The Emir later met with Turkish Prime Minister Dr Ahmet Davutoglu.
Talks dealt with bilateral relations and means of enhancing them in addition to a number of regional and international issues.
They reviewed a number of topics on the summit’s agenda.
The Emir also met with OIC Secretary General Iyad bin Amin Madani and Burkina Faso President Roch Marc Christian Kabore.
