Toyota, Lexus maintenance charges cut by 6 to 39%

Abdullah Abdulghani & Bros Co (AAB)  has reduced maintenance charges by 6% to 39% on all Toyota and Lexus vehicles with effect from today. AAB is the distributor of Toyota and Lexus in Qatar.
In a statement yesterday, the Ministry of Economy and Commerce announced that AAB had become the second automobile dealer to conform to its nine-clause initiative designed to ease car warranty terms.
The company has submitted a list of the new prices to the competent authorities at the ministry. The nine-clause initiative aims to bolster competition between car dealers and improve the quality of maintenance services.
Earlier this month, Saleh Al Hamad Al Mana Company, distributor of Nissan and Infiniti in Qatar, had announced a reduction in maintenance charges in line with the MEC’s nine-clause initiative.
The list of discounted services offered by AAB applies to all Toyota and Lexus vehicles. The discounts range between 6% and 39% on the total costs incurred by consumers during the maintenance period (0km to 100,000km), according to the statement.
Free vehicle maintenance is provided at 1,000km for all model years and at 5,000km for all Toyota and Lexus models, 2016 onwards.
The MEC praised AAB for reducing the cost of maintenance services and stressed that inspectors from the competent administrative departments would monitor compliance with the discounted rates at all AAB service centres.
The ministry had launched the initiative with the aim of boosting competition in maintenance and repair services during warranty periods and compelling car agents to remove restrictions related to warranty terms imposed on vehicle owners.
Customers were previously required to conduct maintenance and repair works at the car agency’s workshop and the warranty could be adversely affected if maintenance works were carried out at non-affiliated third-party workshops.
