The Organisation of Islamic Co-operation (OIC) has welcomed Qatar’s nomination of Dr Hamad bin Abdulaziz al-Kuwari, the cultural adviser at the Emiri Diwan, to the position of Unesco director general.
This came in the final communique of the 13th session of the conference which was held in Istanbul, under the theme “Unity and Solidarity for Justice and Peace”. OIC also welcomed Qatar’s efforts and initiatives in support of Unesco, the World Heritage Committee and the Unesco’s programme for the protection of cultural and natural heritage in emergency situations.
