Qatar Airways’ Boston service celebrated with gala ceremony

Qatar Airways has celebrated the launch of its daily, non-stop service to Boston, US, with a gala event.
In attendance at the event in Boston were many of the city’s dignitaries and business leaders, with guests experiencing a red carpet rose-wall welcome.
The emcee for the evening was television red carpet host and fashion designer Giuliana Rancic, and the event featured musical performances by Nikka Costa & Strings and En Vogue as well.
“The gala was a memorable evening for Qatar Airways and for the city of Boston,” said Qatar Airways Group chief executive Akbar al-Baker. “With every new destination we serve, we seek to become a part of that community and Boston welcomed us with open arms.”
Speaking at the event, al-Baker stressed the importance of aviation, both as a catalyst and facilitator for global trade, commerce and vital cultural exchange. Following the airline’s global brand campaign “Going Places Together”, he thanked the city of Boston for inviting Qatar Airways into their community and invited guests to experience the “renowned services of the reigning three-time winner of the prestigious accolade, Airline of the Year, by Skytrax”.
“We are pleased to be operating to Boston with our state-of-the-art Airbus A350, and connect travellers from this great city to a global network,” he said. “Qatar Airways’ new service from Boston will form the foundations for new business and social ties around the world. I look forward to our long and prosperous relationship.”
Launched on March 16, the new route between Boston’s Logan International Airport and Doha’s Hamad International Airport represents the airline’s ninth US destination. Qatar Airways also commenced services to Los Angeles on January 1 and added a second flight to the New York City route on April 1. It will launch services to Atlanta on June 1.
“Gala guests experienced the airline’s renowned hospitality and refined signature service, including award-winning cuisine offering and personal service from its cabin crew. At the end of the evening, the airline held the traditional gala raffle.
Two lucky winners were awarded two round-trip business class tickets to their destination of choice, anywhere on the airline’s route map of over 150 global destinations,” the airline said in a statement.
