A building materials warehouse, located on Street 30 of the Doha Industrial Area, was destroyed in a fire on Thursday morning.
No one sustained injuries even though the warehouse reportedly had some personnel working when the blaze broke out.
The fire, sighted around 8.15am by some neighbours, was brought under control in under three hours. Eyewitnesses said they could see heavy black smoke coming out of the complex before the fire was extinguished.
People in the neighbourhood told Gulf Times that they saw flames leaping from the main sliding door of the old complex, located in a narrow lane off the road from the Al Attiyah Market intersection towards Sailiyah.

Though the lone access to the place was narrow, Civil Defence managed to rush several fire engines and water tankers to the spot, besides a large number of personnel. Some of the ongoing major road works in the Industrial Area are taking place in the vicinity of the affected complex.
No reason was attributed to the fire, which the Civil Defence personnel prevented from spreading to the neighbouring building, a furniture warehouse. However, it caused some damage to a company on Street 29, which is on the rear side of the affected complex.
There were some major fires in the area a few years ago, including one in which a warehouse of a construction materials company was completely destroyed, enquiries revealed. One of them also resulted in a death.
