Emir, Obama discuss ties

HH the Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad al-Thani yesterday discussed with US President Barack Obama a number of regional and international issues, including the international efforts to combat terrorism. 


HH the Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad al-Thani poses with other GCC leaders and US President Barack Obama before the start of the summit in Riyadh yesterday.

The meeting, held ahead of the GCC- US summit in Riyadh, addressed co-operation between Qatar and the US as well as prospects for advancing them in all fields. 
They also discussed the latest developments in the Middle East, especially in Yemen, Libya and Syria, and reiterated their call for the renunciation of violence, extremism and terrorism in all its forms and manifestations, and stressed the importance of continuing and strengthening the international efforts to combat these scourges. 
The Emir later returned to Doha.
The Emir sent a cable to the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman bin Abdulaziz of Saudi Arabia in which he expressed his sincere thanks and appreciation for the warm welcome and generous hospitality accorded to him and his accompanying delegation. 
HH the Emir praised King Salman’s efforts in the success of the summit and for reaching positive results.
