The Social Development Centre (SDC) and Qatar Finance and Business Academy (QFBA) have signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) on empowering youth, building their capacities and broadening their professional choices towards developing professional capacities, professional standards and the entrepreneurship environment in the community.
This in order to achieve the aspirations of Qatar National Vision 2030, which focuses on youth as a means and an end for development, according to a statement. The signing of the agreement pertains to the utilisation of QFBA’s training and development capabilities for the benefit of SDC’s target group.
The MoU covers the development of professional standards in common areas, which generally includes the entrepreneurship sector. It also stipulates putting forward and designing advanced training programmes in the field of entrepreneurship and the development of the entrepreneurship ecosystem accordingly, including professional standards and advisory services.
This emanates from the main role of the SDC as a non-profit developmental work organisation founded in 1996 under the patronage of HH Sheikha Moza bint Nasser, chairperson of Qatar Foundation for Education, Science and Community Development and founder of the Qatar Foundation for Social Work (QFSW).
Since its inception, the centre has worked in the field of capacity-building and achieving economic stability for less-privileged families. Following the centre’s adjoining with the QFSW, its strategic directions have been flowing into the benefit of youth, and working on developing their capacities, in order to integrate and broaden their participation in community development, the statement notes.
The QFBA was founded with the aim of contributing to the development of professional leaders in the business and finance sector, in addition to building a professional system for professional licensing standards in the financial sector in co-operation with regulatory bodies, the labour market and experts specialising in the field.
The MoU was signed in pursuit of building capacities, developing human resources and improving the professional standards of human resources in the fields of management, business and finance, in addition to upgrading standards for work performance in the economic and social fields for the working-age group.
