The Ministry of Awqaf and Islamic Affairs yesterday announced the allocation of QR5mn to support the activities of community centres to teach the Holy Qur’an.
The fund will be paid in stages and under certain conditions relating to the quality of work provided by these centres and their contribution to the graduation of a Qatari Qur’anic generation proud of its religion and country, it said.
This financial support for the community Qur’anic centres is subject to a number of terms and conditions relating to performance and business quality which require these centres to be licensed and have teaching of the Holy Qur’an, promoting religious values and morals as their main activities.
The centres shall provide the Ministry of Awqaf with the full data on their administrative and teaching cadres and all learners on specified dates.
The financial support ratios for these centres vary according to the number of students and their Qur’an educational qualifications. The centres, which do not rely on the public sector in their infrastructure, premises and teaching staff, have higher proportions of support, the ministry added.
This support for the Qur’anic community centres embodies the dedication of the wise leadership and the people of Qatar to serve the Holy Qur’an as one of the aspects of the good partnership between the public and private sectors for the service of society.
