The Pakistan Engineers Forum was formed in 1997 to represent Pakistani engineers working in Qatar. The idea was to gather all engineers on one platform. The founders of the organisation worked out a number of bylaws for its working.
Under these bylaws, every second year a new executive committee has been elected to run the affairs of the forum. Due to their efforts, there are now more than 200 Pakistani engineers who are the members of the forum. The forum represents the largest group of Pakistani professionals working in Qatar.
The main objectives of the PEF are to organise all Pakistani engineers working in Qatar in a professional association, promote awareness, understanding of developments in technology and industry, promote professional contact and networking between members and Qataris.
It also aims to promote professional interests and a positive image of the members besides Pakistani technical expertise and highlight opportunities other than arranging technical seminars for members and guests.
Social, cultural and sports events for families of the members is also part of the agenda of the organisation. Recently, the PEF had organised a seminar on smart cities.
The seminar focused on smart city initiatives in global and regional perspectives. The distinguished speakers shared case studies and research on the topic with a big audience. Earlier, the forum invited Dr Atta-ur-Rahman, the former minister of Education and Chairman of Higher Education Commission (HEC) Pakistan to speak about ‘Education, Innovation & Entrepreneurship Imperatives for Progress.’
In the wake of the nation’s construction boom, Qatar Green Building Council (QGBC), a member of Qatar Foundation for Education, Science and Community Development (QF), and the Pakistani Engineers Forum (PEF), hosted a joint seminar exploring innovation opportunities and challenges in Qatar’s construction sector.
The event, which took place at Qatar Foundation, was attended by more than 100 construction practitioners and sustainability experts.
