Real estate developer Ezdan Holding Group is on course to launch its QR4.5bn Ezdan Oasis project in Al Wukair, a residential-cum-commercial development, including as many as 8,679 apartments.
"More than 60% of the project is ready and the first phase is set for commissioning early next year," Ezdan Holding Group CEO Ali Mohamed al-Obaidli announced at Cityscape Qatar, which opened at Doha Exhibition and Convention Centre on Tuesday.
Apart from the Oasis project, Ezdan Malls will be ready for commissioning in Al-Wakra and Al-Wukair in the next six to 12 months. Two of the company's hotels, The Curve in Doha West Bay and Ezdan Hotel in Al Gharaffa would also be ready in the coming months.
Ezdan Oasis would also have two hypermarkets, five sports clubs and eight mosques among others. Each of the hypermarkets would be spread over 24,500sqm. The complex would also have two schools, both with a capacity of 1,408 students each.
When completed, the Oasis project would accommodate more than 35,000 residents. It is spread over an area exceeding one million sqm.
The CEO said the company was looking to the future with a lot of hope as it is evident from the growing interest to invest in different areas of the Qatari market.
"Ezdan Oasis, which would be fully commissioned in a few years from now, features modern residential concepts as of the integrated services it provides. Apart from the residential concepts, the project, would also have commercial, sports and administrative facilities."
The CEO also felt the project would be the first of its kind anywhere in the Middle East and may also perhaps be the only one in the world to have so many kinds of units and facilities owned by a single entity.
In reply to a query from Gulf Times, al-Obaidli said the demand in the retail sector is growing continuously and the best example is their company's Ezdan Mall in Al Gharaffa, where the occupancy is phenomenal.
Once Ezdan Oasis is completed, the company would almost reach the 30,000-mark in the country's residential units market, it is understood.
Ezdan Oasis would contribute to increasing the population density in Al Wukair area, which has witnessed a huge rise in the number of residents over the last six years, mainly backed by the launch of more than 25 residential villages of the Ezdan Group.
