Emir Issues instruments of ratification

HH the Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad al-Thani has issued the following instruments of ratification:
1. Approving a memorandum of understanding on mutual recognition of certificates of competence for workers at sea between the governments of Qatar and Turkey signed in Doha on 2/12/2015.  
2. Approving a draft agreement in the field of developing public financial management between governments of Qatar and Turkey signed in Doha on 2/12/2015.  
3. Approving a memorandum of understanding in the environment field between governments of Qatar and Turkey signed in Doha on 2/12/2015.  
4. Approving a draft agreement on air transport between governments of Qatar and Nigeria signed in Doha on 28/2/2016.
5. Approving a draft agreement between governments of Qatar and Nigeria on the avoidance of double taxation and prevention of fiscal evasion with respect to taxes on income and the attached draft protocol to it signed in Doha on 28/2/2016.   
6. Approving a draft agreement on air transport between governments of Qatar and New Zealand signed in Doha on 9/9/2015.
7. Approving an agreement for technical co-operation between the governments of Qatar and Mexico signed in Mexico city on 24/11/2015.
8. Approving a memorandum of understanding between Qatar Central Bank and Bank of Mexico signed in Mexico city on 24/11/2015.
9. Approving an agreement between governments of Qatar and Bosnia and Herzegovina on the organisation of the recruitment of workers from Bosnia and Herzegovina in the State of Qatar signed in Doha on 6/4/2014.

National Day greetings sent
HH the Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad al-Thani, HH the Deputy Emir Sheikh Abdullah bin Hamad al-Thani and HE the Prime Minister and Interior Minister Sheikh Abdullah bin Nasser bin Khalifa al-Thani have sent cables of congratulations to Tanzanian President John Magufuli on his country’s National Day.

Minister meets German envoy
HE the Minister of Culture and Sports Salah bin Ghanem bin Nasser al-Ali met the German ambassador to Qatar Hans-Udo Muzel in Doha yesterday.
They discussed bilateral relations and ways of enhancing them, in addition to issues of common concern.

Ooredoo extends student discount promotion
Ooredoo’s student discount promotion has been extended to all under the age of 26 with a valid QID in Qatar.
The promotion offers 50% off all Shahry Smart Packs 100,150 or 250, as well as 50% off all monthly Mobile Internet Packs (excluding unlimited bundles).
With approximately 253,000 fifteen to twenty five year olds in Qatar according to ‘The Qatar 2010 Population and Housing Census’, over a quarter of a million people could benefit from the offer.

Praise for Qatar relief work
Secretary General of the Arab Red Crescent and Red Cross Organization (ARCO) Dr Saleh bin Hamad al-Suhaibani has praised Qatar’s efforts in relief and humanitarian work.  
In an interview with Arrayah newspaper, al-Suhaibani referred to Qatar Red Crescent’s comprehensive and quick response to humanitarian crises and disasters.  
He said Qatar is an active member in the General Assembly meetings, and always comes up with new ideas to serve humanitarian work and contribute to upgrading the work of the Arab organisation at all levels.
He said the 41st meeting of the ARCO General Assembly to be held in Amman, will decide on an Arab humanitarian capital and an Arab humanitarian work day, seeking to raise relief co-ordination and humanitarian work, and supporting the Gulf and Arab efforts towards recurrent crises.
The two-day meeting will discuss key humanitarian issues in Palestine, Somalia, Syria, Iraq, Yemen and Libya, as well as the conditions of displaced and refugees in the Arab region, he added.

GAC in e-link with ports firm
The General Authority of Customs (GAC) has announced that it has completed the e-link and integration project (Al-Nadeeb) with Qatar Ports Management Company. “This is expected to contribute an unprecedented leap in exchanging information, conducting transactions and developing work mechanisms between GAC and the company,” Mohamed Ahmed al-Muhannadi, director of GAC’s Operations and Risk Analysis Department, said. When it was first introduced, the e-link between GAC and Qatar Ports Management Company had saved 70% of the time to accomplish customs transactions, he said and hoped the process would become more efficient in the future. “GAC has been keen to link Al-Nadeeb system with all the entities and ministries concerned, and provided the required technical support to maintain smoother and faster customs clearance operations,” the official added.
