HE the Minister of Municipality and Environment Mohamed bin Abdullah al-Rumaihi has stressed that the ministry has played an active role in devising programmes and plans for recycling waste.
In response to recommendations of the Central Municipal Council (CMC) on the issue, he said the Ministry of Municipality and Environment’s initiatives in this area targeted different segments of the society in a time-bound manner.
Those targeted include private schools and educational institutions, government, non-government and commercial entities as well as public gardens and parks.
The council reviewed the response of the Minister at its regular bi-weekly session on Tuesday.
In his reply, al-Rumaihi noted that this year government and non-government entities were being targeted by the MME’s programmes to recycle paper waste. The MME has state-of-the-art recycling facilities, it was observed.
Earlier, the CMC recommended that the MME exert further efforts to enhance recycling activities covering various types of waste products.
The council also reviewed the response of the Minister on the issue of displaying vehicles for sale in the western part of the Doha Industrial Area and the unauthorised parking of trucks at different places in the Industrial Area and Muaither.
Court reviewing embezzlement case
A Doha criminal court has been reviewing the case of a financial brokerage company senior official accused of embezzling QR26mn from the account of a GCC investor.
Local Arabic daily Arrayah has reported that the victim filed a complaint against the official when he discovered that his bank account was wiped clean though he used to have QR20mn in it. He had not received any notification from the company about any transactions done in his name.
It turned out that the accused official abused his position and managed to log into the account of the victim and changed his personal information and phone number. Then, he used the victim’s funds to conduct a number of transactions, earning him QR6mn. The accused deposited all the funds in his personal account.
The victim stressed that he never knew about such transactions and never authorised anyone to do them. Further, he had instructed the company not to undertake any transaction in his name without a prior written approval from him. The case has been adjourned to hear more witnesses.
Qatar Music Academy’s Western Department to host concert at National Convention Centre

Qatar ratifies agreement for investment of Arab capital
Qatar yesterday ratified the Unified Agreement for the Investment of Arab Capital in the Arab States, which entered into force on 24/04/2016, after three months from the date of deposit of the instruments of ratification by five State parties to the original convention.
The agreement aims to enhance the overall Arab economic and social development and economic integration, as well as to facilitate procedures relating to investment in the Arab countries, and means of facilitating capital’s movement, deployment and protection within the Arab countries. It is also aimed at easing Arab investors’ movement among the Arab countries in order to serve sustainable development, raise the standard of living of its citizens and support investors.
HE the Minister of Economy and Commerce Sheikh Ahmed bin Jassim bin Mohamed al-Thani stressed importance of the Unified Agreement for the Investment of Arab Capital in the Arab States as one of the important gains in the march of joint Arab economic action.
Qatari leaders send cables of congratulations

Hummer recalled
The Ministry of Economy and Commerce has announced a free recall campaign for Hummer H3/ H3T vehicles made during 2006-2010 for a manufacturer’s defect of the connector module that controls the blower motor speed for the heating, ventilation and air conditioning system.
The campaign is jointly conducted in co-operation with Mannai Corporation, the authorised distributor of Hummer vehicles.
