Qalandar fires Al Feroz to Division A cricket title

Qalandar Khan cracked a superb knock of 82 and sparked Al Feroz Youngsters to a four-wicket victory against HBK in the final of the Qatar Airways Division A Cricket League.
At the Asian Town Cricket Stadium, Al Feroz Youngsters chased the 173-run target rather easily in 41.1 overs with Qalandar hitting the best knock in the match.
His 107-ball knock, which was punctuated by a six and five fours, anchored the Al Feroz batting. Inam-Ul Haq (25) and Tanveer (19) supported Qalandar with their useful knocks. Lahiro (three wickets for 35) and Ajantha (two wickets for 23 runs) attempted to foil the rivals but Qalandar saw his team through.
Earlier, Harris picked three wickets for 32 runs in seven overs to restrict HBK to 172 all out in 47.1 overs. Noman, Mujeeb and Tanveer were other successful bowlers with a scalp each.
Ushantha, Dasul and Asitha resisted the Al Feroz bowlers but other batsmen could not stay long enough to help HBK put up a challenging score. Ushantha smashed a six and four boundaries to get 60, while Dasul’s 48 included a six and three fours and Asitha hit 39.
The Qatar Cricket Association (QCA), in association with its long-time partner Qatar Airways, has been organising the national league to promote the sport and groom the players.
QCA General Secretary Manzoor Ahmad, on behalf of president MA Shahid, expressed his deep gratitude to sponsor and partner Qatar Airways for their backing to the sport.
He said, “We’re always grateful to Qatar Airways, who have been helping us boost the game in Qatar for a long time. We sincerely hope that Qatar Airways would continue their support to our activities for many more years to come.”
Ahmad added: “We enjoyed the match between Al Feroz Youngsters and HBK which successfully concluded the Qatar Airways Division A League. We want to thank both the teams for their good performance.”

BRIEF SCORES: HBK 172 all out in 47.1 overs (Ushantha 60, Dasul 48, Asitha 39; Harris 3 wickets) lost to Al Feroz 173 for six in 41.1 overs (Qalandar 82; Lahiro 3 wkts, Ajantha 2 wkts) by four wickets. Man of the Match: Qalandar Khan of Al Feroz (82 runs)
