Doha Bank reiterated its support for the Al Ruwad Business Case Competition, hosted by College of the North Atlantic – Qatar (CNA-Q) recently.
This was in keeping with the bank’s “commitment to continue promoting initiatives that provide a platform for the region’s brightest young minds pursuing careers in the fields of business and finance”, it said in a statement yesterday.
Open to students across all post-secondary institutions in the GCC region, and sponsored by Doha Bank for the second consecutive year, the competition was launched by CNA-Q in 2015 after hosting a business case competition for over 10 years to encourage stronger participation from regional institutions.
The Al Ruwad Business Case Competition tests students’ ability to evaluate a number of cases focusing on any one aspect of business, such as marketing, finance or human resources. The format challenges teams to compete against each other in a round-robin fashion, with the top four teams with the highest scores making it to the final round.
Dr R Seetharaman, group CEO of Doha Bank, said: “Sponsoring the Al Ruwad Business Case Competition is a matter of great pride for Doha Bank. Our sponsorship also reaffirms our long-standing partnership with the leading educational entity, CNA-Q.”
“We are thrilled that Doha Bank has sponsored the competition for the second consecutive year. Through their support, CNA-Q is able to host the premier business case competition in the GCC, allowing students from across the region to compete in solving practical business scenarios,” said David King, dean of the School of Business Studies, CNA-Q.
Participating teams represented a number of top universities from the GCC region, including host CNA-Q, Stenden University Qatar, Carnegie Mellon University in Qatar, Qatar University, Faculty of Islamic Studies – Hamad Bin Khalifa University and Jubail University College – Saudi Arabia.
A team of expert judges evaluated the cases presented by the participants, resulting in one team from Carnegie Mellon University in Qatar winning the top place followed by Faculty of Islamic Studies – Hamad Bin Khalifa University as the second-place winner and Stenden
University Qatar coming third.
