HE the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of State for Cabinet Affairs Ahmed bin Abdullah bin Zaid al-Mahmoud yesterday inaugurated the Education Conference 2016.
The two-day conference, held under the patronage of HE the Prime Minister and Minister of Interior Sheikh Abdullah bin Nasser bin Khalifa al-Thani, is organised by the Ministry of Education and Higher Education at Qatar National Convention Centre under the slogan ‘Learning Leadership: Contemporary Visions.’

Al-Mahmoud also opened the ‘professional teaching’ exhibition, which offers educational solutions to teachers in accordance with modern teaching trends.
The Deputy Premier accompanied by HE the Minister of Education and Higher Education Dr Mohamed Abdul Wahed Ali al-Hammadi went around various pavilions of the exhibition and was briefed on its contents, including teaching aids, technological solutions, programmes and activities provided to students of different age groups.

Al-Mahmoud said the conference was important as it provides an opportunity for exchanging scientific expertise and experiences.
He said through workshops, papers and discussion panels, participants will arrive at important decisions.
The Deputy Prime Minister lauded Qatar’s progress in education under the leadership of HH the Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad al-Thani, and recalled the Emir’s speeches on the importance of improving education in the country. He said the Qatar National Vision 2030 was clear in its objectives in terms of the development of education and human wealth and for developing knowledge, through which, society can bring about progress.
He reiterated Qatar’s leadership attaches great importance to education and stressed the need to work on the development of society as stated in the Qatar National Vision 2030.
Addressing the opening session of the conference, the Minister of Education and Higher Education hailed HH the Emir’s outstanding and continuous support to the education sector. He said the Emir’s support stems from his faith in education’s role in achieving sustainable human development.
Dr al-Hammadi said the theme of the conference affirms Qatar’s belief in the importance of education leadership.
He said the Ministry of Education and Higher Education strives to refine the scientific personality of students and its foundation of logical thinking, analysis and brainstorming, far from the traditional methods which are based on memorisation of information.
The Minister said Qatar’s efforts can be measured by the facilities it has provided including buildings, services, public sources of learning, programmes, initiatives, competitions and awards.
The Education Conference this year focuses on a number of important issues, including modern educational leadership and its role in quality management, the concept of education centred on the 21st century skills for enabling and developing teachers’ roles and proposals for the application of the current education system, educational solutions applicable in the classroom, and special education.
The conference features some 104 training programmes, nine lectures, 16 working papers and 46 distinct educational practices.
