The Qatar Olympic Academy (QOA), in collaboration with Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS), is organising a productive seminar on international sports arbitration at its headquarters in Doha tomorrow.
The prestigious course will bring together more than 70 trainees, representing different government and non-government organisations in Qatar besides participants from GCC nations.
At the seminar, experts will shed light on the importance of arbitration in sport, highlight legal procedures at FIFA and speak about the jurisprudence of CAS in football-related matters.
Matthieu Reeb (CAS Secretary General), Dr Jan Kleiner (lecturer of international sports law at the University of Zurich), Dr Abdullah al-Hayyan (a member of the International Court of Arbitration for Sport) and Michele Bernasconi (teaching assistant at the University of Zurich) will be the speakers at the event.
The topics scheduled to be discussed include ‘The Court of Arbitration for Sport: History, Structure and Landmark Cases’, ‘The Typical Football-Related Dispute: FIFA and CAS Procedure’ and ‘The Jurisprudence of CAS in Football-Related Matters’.
A round-table on the importance of arbitration in sport is also scheduled to be held during the seminar.
