QALCO triumph over M Pallonji in opener

Qatar Lubricants Co. (QALCO) began their campaign in the 1st Mohamed Shamlan Memorial Cricket Tournament 2016 with a 37-run win over M Pallonji.
Sponsored by QALCO, the tournament was inaugurated by QALCO Operations manager Shahid Iqbal in the presence of the teams and Managing Committee members of Qatar Veterans’ League.
M Pallonji won the toss and elected to field first. QALCO had a disastrous start losing three wickets in quick succession for only 11 runs. They, however, recovered to score 108 runs for the loss of 10 wickets in the allotted 15 overs with Buddika scoring 26 runs of eight balls with four sixes. Ifzal added a 17-ball 22 with two sixes and Hilmy pitched in with 16 runs off 12 balls (one six).
For M Pallonji, Dixit claimed two wickets while Krishna, Neeraj, Milroy and Rajesh scalped one each.
In reply, M Pallonji could only manage 71 runs, with Ruwan and Suminda claiming three wickets each. Captain Shahid Iqbal scalped two. Milroy was the top-scorer for M Pallonji with an 18-ball 16. QALCO’s Ruwan was adjudged Man of the Match.
The finals of this tournament are scheduled for Thursday, May 26, MIC Sports Complex (Mesaieed ground).
