Qatar elected president of anti-corruption association

The General Assembly of the International Association of Anti-Corruption Authorities (IAACA) elected unanimously HE the Attorney General Dr Ali bin Fetais al-Marri as President of the IAACA to succeed Chinese Attorney General Cao Jianming.
The election took place at the IAACA’s final meeting held yesterday in Tianjin, China.
In a statement on the occasion, HE Dr al-Marri expressed his gratitude for the trust placed in him by members of the IAACA, which reflects the confidence placed in the State of Qatar and the recognition of its initiatives in the field of anti-corruption, stressing that the international community’s confidence in HH the Emir’s support to efforts aimed at combating corruption is the main reason for the selection of Qatar as president of this association.
He highlighted Qatar’s absolute support to the issue of fighting corruption, outlining its initiatives in this area, both by extending a helping hand and by enhancing awareness among the people through including the fight against corruption as a subject in a number of local and international universities.
HE the Attorney General said that the IAACA will pursue a new way in the fight against corruption at international level, calling on all states to become parties to the IAACA in line with the approach of the United Nations Convention against Corruption.
On his part, the former IAACA president congratulated the Attorney General and wished him success.
The meeting was attended by charge d’affaires of the embassy of the State of Qatar in China Abdullah bin Saif al-Khayareen, and the delegation accompanying HE the Attorney General.
