Woqod urged to provide mobile petrol stations across Doha

With long queues in and around Doha's fuel stations becoming a common sight even late in the evening and the early hours of the day, vehicle owners have appealed to the Qatar Fuel (Woqod) authorities to expedite its plans for introducing mobile petrol stations across the city and surrounding areas.
Woqod had recently announced plans to provide mobile petrol stations in some localities.
The need for such facilities increased after a number of petrol stations in Doha stopped operating in recent weeks, leading to massive queues at filling stations and causing long delays to motorists.
Narrating the difficulties they were facing at filling stations, some residents told Gulf Times that the situation was becoming worse.
The residents said they were often forced to stay awake until late at night to get their cars filled as a visit to a petrol station at other times of the day would lead to long delays due to the serpentine queues there.

Motorists wait in long queues to fill up their vehicles, a regular sight these days

For those who cannot stay up until the late hours, the other option is to visit a petrol station around 2-3pm when it would be relatively less crowded, according to some motorists. However, this would mean venturing out when the temperature is at its highest during the day, they point out.
Vehicle owners said the authorities could consider setting up temporary or mobile stations along some of the less populated areas in Doha city as an immediate solution to the problem of crowded petrol stations.
For instance, people are demanding new petrol stations in areas such as Al Thumama and Mesaimeer, and along F-Ring Road.
With the closure of a number of petrol stations in different parts of Doha, several long stretches of roads in the city are without any filling station. These include parts of the arterial D-Ring Road and C-Ring Road, among others.

A great article to be reviewed by the concerned authorities, not only for the fuel pumps but also to the traffic concerns leading towards these petrol pumps. From the strenuous drives to reach work places or homes with the present road works at major places, its now the vicinity of the pumps that block one road leading towards this. Entrance itself gets cramped. A minor renovation before closing down, till the new ones were built could have avoided the present hassle. Hope to see new petrol stations in other areas very soon.
