Qatar Chamber, ICSS sign deal to support sport and commerce

The Qatar Chamber (QC) and the International Centre for Sports Security (ICSS) have signed a multi-faceted cooperation agreement, based on which the two sides launched a joint initiative under the name of “sport and commerce.”
QC director-general Saleh Hamad al-Sharqi and ICSS president Mohamed Hanzab signed the agreement.
Under the agreement, each party will participate in events held by the other and the QC is to support ICSS’s activities held in or outside Qatar by inviting businessmen to partake in the ICSS programmes.
The QC will also use its various tools to promote ICSS international activities and events, through foreign trade chambers, especially in countries where events are organised, by holding bilateral meetings between Qatari businessmen and their counterparts in the countries concerned.
In turn, ICSS shall provide all possible forms of facilities for the QC to take part in the centre’s activities.
The two sides will exchange information and data available to utilise in studies and research or to perform any actions or take decisions relating to the functions and competencies of each party.
The two sides will coordinate the events organised by any of them, whether inside or outside Qatar. Each party shall name the other party as a partner and official sponsor to their activities.
In addition, the parties will work on qualifying and capacity development of their staff through training programs, offered by the QC.

MEC to organise ‘Sport Business Opportunities Forum’
The Ministry of Economy and Commerce is organising the ‘Sport Business Opportunities Forum’ in Doha on May 22 in partnership with the Ministry of Culture and Sports, the Supreme Committee for Delivery and Legacy, Qatar Olympic Committee and Aspire Zone Foundation.
The event is being held under the patronage of HE the Prime Minister and Minister of Interior, Sheikh Abdullah bin Nasser bin Khalifa al-Thani. The forum is expected to attract a large number of participants including prominent businessmen, investors and entrepreneurs along with owners of major local and foreign companies.
The forum aims to explore investment opportunities in the sports sector and to highlight Qatar’s efforts toward strengthening public private sector partnerships and supporting the sports sector, which represents a key pillar of the state’s diversification policy in line with the Qatar National Vision 2030. The forum also provides a platform for communication for partners from both the public and private sectors, to explore investment opportunities in various areas of the sports sector including events management, sports development, the establishment of sports facilities and facilities management.
“The forum is consistent with Qatar’s growing role in hosting major international sporting events such as the 2019 World Championships in Athletics and the 2022 FIFA World Cup,” the Ministry of Economy and Commerce said yesterday.
The forum is open for public attendance and participation.
