A new Medical Commission to take care of the health requirements of government employees in the transport and communication sectors was formally opened in Mowasalat's Karwa City at Mesaimeer.
HE the Minister of Transport and Communications Jassim Seif Ahmed al-Sulaiti and HE the Minister of Administrative Development and Labour and Social Affairs Dr Issa bin Saad al-Jafali al-Nuaimi jointly inaugurated the new facility in the presence of Mowasalat chairman Nasser Mohamed al-Malki, managing director Khalid Nasser al-Hail and other senior officials.
Speaking at the opening, HE al-Sulaiti said the care being taken by Qatar to ensure the best medical facilities to its expatriate workforce is demonstrated with the opening of the dedicated Medical Commission for those serving the transport and communication sectors.
The new Medical Commission is in fact an upgrading of the earlier Mowasalat Medical Centre, which has been functioning in the Karwa City for few years. Besides a registration section, the new Commission also has such features as a General Practitioners Clinic, ENT Clinic, Dental Clinic, Laboratory Section, Radiology Section and Occupational Health Clinic, pre-employment medical checkup, and annual medical checkup.
The new Medical Commission also has emergency rooms, isolation unit, well-equipped pharmacy and first aid unit. Karwa's newly built bus depot at Al Khor too has a medical facility with all these features, it was informed at the opening.
"All equipment at the new facility are of international standards and installed in consultation and guidance with the Ministry of Public Health," said al-Hail.
Mowasalat's IT team, with the support of a European software company, has developed a new programme to be used at the Mowasalat Medical Commission.
"The Ministry of Public Health could now directly access all the procedures being done at the new Medical Commission," the official explained while lauding the efforts of its director Dr Emad M Bahloul.
