14 staffers of QA graduate in MBA from NZ varsity

Qatar Airways’ Al Darb Qatarisation development programme is celebrating the graduation of 14 staff members who have achieved a Master of Business Administration (MBA) from Massey University in Palmerston North, New Zealand.
The customised course was delivered by Massey’s MBA programme and School of Aviation, with lecturers travelling to Doha to teach the students.
Qatar Airways senior vice-president (human resources) Nabeela Fakhri said, “Qatar Airways is proud to support such educational development initiatives and congratulates the 14 graduates for successfully completing their professional studies at one of New Zealand’s leading educational institutions, Massey University.
“The innovative teaching and practical experience-based learning delivered by Massey University will enable Qatar Airways staff to move seamlessly into key management roles in the future. The Massey MBA programme has offered multiple opportunities for our staff to learn, grow and contribute not only to the Qatar Airways Group but also to the State of Qatar.”
School of Aviation CEO Ashok Poduval said, “The programme contained all the essential components of a traditional MBA, in terms of developing strategic competencies and carving out personalised goals and career paths, but also included a number of special topic papers and a research paper with an aviation focus.”
The Qatar Airways programme was the first time that Massey University delivered an MBA structured for aviation students.
The MBA programme’s 15 papers were delivered as contact courses with Massey University lecturers travelling to Qatar for face-to-face classes, supported by a web-based learning management system. The students also travelled to New Zealand for two of the papers and to participate in a study tour of leading New Zealand companies.
Qatar Airways’ Al Darb Qatarisation programme is an initiative that aims to develop young Qataris to become the leaders of the national carrier. Through initiatives such as its national scholarship programme, summer internship programme and graduate developee programme, Al Darb provides students and graduates with projects that add to their work experience and prepare them for a successful career in the airline.
Al Darb includes nine programmes and 36 majors, 13 of which were added recently.
