Traffic on both directions for a 750m stretch on Huwar Street (between Tilted Roundabout and Makkah Street) will be closed for one year starting from Friday.
During the period, both the northbound and southbound traffic on the closed section of Huwar Street will be diverted to a road that runs parallel to the closed section. The diversion road includes two lanes in each direction (as shown on the map).
Road users travelling to the Education City and Qatar Foundation can access the facility via the existing main access points. Road users heading from Al Diyaa Street to Huwar Street could use Makkah Street to enter the new road (as shown on the map).
The speed limit will be reduced to 50 kph along the route to ensure the safety of road users and the project’s workforce.
The closure is required to allow for the construction of key structural units on the planned underpass on Huwar Street, as part of the Dukhan Road East project which includes the construction of a 11km road with four lanes in each direction as well as upgrading the service roads including multilevel interchanges, and landscaping.
