Emir receives message from Eritrean president

HH the Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad al-Thani has received a written message from Eritrean President Isaias Afwerki pertaining to relations between Qatar and Eritrea and means of enhancing them. 
    The message was received by HE the Assistant Foreign Minister for Foreign Affairs Sultan bin Saad al-Meraikhi during a meeting in Doha yesterday with HE Ambassador of Eritrea to Qatar Ali Ibrahim Ahmed.


Defence Minister meets US 
counterpart


HE the Minister of State for Defence Affairs, Dr Khalid bin Mohamed al-Attiyah met in Washington with the US Secretary of Defence Ashton Carter. 
They reviewed topics of common interest, especially in the defence sector and ways of enhancing them. 
The meeting was attended by Qatar’s ambassador to the United States, Mohamed Jaham al-Kuwari and the delegation accompanying the Minister of State for Defence Affairs. 
Dr Khalid bin Mohamed al-Attiyah has also met the Chairman of the US Senate Armed Services Committee Senator John McCain. 
They reviewed topics of common interest, especially in the military aspects, and ways of enhancing them.


Civic Minister meets  Mexican official, Chinese envoy



HE the Minister of Municipality and Environment Mohamed bin Abdullah al-Rumaihi met Jose Calzada, Secretary of Agriculture for Mexico in Doha yesterday. 
Talks focused on ways to enhance co-operation between Qatar and Mexico in areas of agricultural affairs. 
HE Sheikh Dr. Faleh bin Nasser al-Thani, Assistant Undersecretary of Agricultural Affairs, Livestock and Fisheries and Mexico’s ambassador in Qatar Francisco Javier Niembro Cibrian attended the meeting. 
The Minister of Municipality also met the Chinese ambassador to Qatar Li Chen. 
They discussed ways to enhance co-operation between Qatar and China in the environmental and Municipal Affairs sector.

HE the Assistant Foreign Minister for Foreign Affairs Sultan bin Saad al-Meraikhi met the Special Co-ordinator-Peace Policy Middle-East & North Africa at Swiss Federal Department of Foreign Affairs Roland Steininger. 
Talks covered bilateral relations, ways of promoting them and strengthening prospects of co-operation, in addition to issues of mutual concern. 
Several Foreign Ministry officials attended the meeting.
