Strong winds forecast today
Strong winds and poor visibility due to blowing dust have been forecast in Qatar today. Visibility may drop to 1km at places at times, according to the Qatar Meteorological Department. The maximum temperature of 39C is expected at Mesaieed, Wakrah and Doha, followed by 38C at Al Khor, 34C at Abu Samra, 33C at Dukhan and 31C at Ruwais. The minimum temperature of 25C is forecast at Al Khor and Dukhan, followed by 26C at Mesaieed, Wakrah and Abu Samra, and 29C in Doha and at Ruwais. Both the Ministry of Public Health and Hamad Medical Corporation have urged Qatar residents, especially the elderly and those with asthma or respiratory diseases, to avoid direct exposure to dust.

ration items
The Ministry of Economy and Commerce (MEC) has denied rumours that a cargo of rice, part of the ration materials, is not fit for human consumption. In a statement yesterday, the MEC affirmed that it regularly inspects the ration items to make sure of their validity and quality through laboratory tests in co-operation with the departments concerned. FM holds talks with
Mauritius president

‘successful’ visit
Tunisia’s President Beji Caid Essebsi’s official visit to Qatar was “successful by all standards”, said the Tunisian presidential spokesman Moez Sinaou, noting that this visit came within the framework of expanding Tunisia’s ties with all GCC states.
