‘Qatar keen to enhance its energy cooperation with Bangladesh’

Qatar has expressed willingness to engage with Bangladesh on “energy cooperation including LNG imports from Qatar, knowledge sharing, technology transfer,” the embassy of Bangladesh said in a statement yesterday.
Bangladesh’s State Minister for Power, Energy & Mineral Resources Nasrul Hamid paid a courtesy call on HE the Minister of Energy and Industry Dr Mohamed bin Saleh al-Sada in Doha yesterday. 
The two ministers discussed a host of issues including LNG imports from Qatar and Qatari investment in Bangladesh, the embassy said. 
It said al-Sada “highly appreciated the ongoing tremendous growth rate” of Bangladesh despite the global economic crisis. Hamid briefed him on the development activities of Bangladesh under the “dynamic leadership” of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina. 
Regarding the upcoming visit of HH the Emir, Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad al-Thani, the Bangladeshi minister said his country was “eagerly waiting to receive His Highness” and requested al-Sada to visit Bangladesh at his convenience. 
“The Qatari Minister has gladly accepted the invitation,” the embassy said. They also discussed the extension of the signed MoU on energy cooperation between Bangladesh and Qatar. 
Bangladeshi ambassador Ashud Ahmed and RasGas chief executive officer Hamad Mubarak al-Muhannadi were among those present.
