Metabo emerge winners in Division II

Metabo defeated Serandib B by 44 runs to lift the Division II title in the 2nd M Pallonji Cricket Tournament at the West Bay Sports Complex on Friday.
After Serandib B put Metabo to bat, the latter put up an imposing 161 runs on the board for the loss of nine wickets in the allotted 20 overs. Rafaqat scored 29 runs, hitting a six and two fours in his knock, while Hussain’s 26-run knock included three sixes. Irfan added 23 runs (1 six, 1 four).
For Serandib B, Chanaka, Roshan and Chandana took two wickets each while Bandula scalped one.
In reply, Serandib B were bundled out for 117 in the allotted 20 overs. Bandula was their top scorer with 21 runs including 2 sixes. Prakash pitched in with 19 runs (1 four).  Zulfi and Monty took 2 wickets each while Khadir and Haneef took a wicket each.
Metabo’s Husain was adjudged the Man of the Finals. Metabo players Nabeel and Atiq were declared the Best Batsman and Best Wicketkeeper of the tournament respectively, while Serandib B players Roshan and Prakash received the Best Bowler and Best All Rounder awards respectively.
M Pallonji’s regional general manager Chidananda Nayak was the chief guest at the prize distribution ceremony.
