The Advisory Council held its weekly regular meeting yesterday, chaired by HE the Speaker Mohamed bin Mubarak al-Khulaifi.
At the outset of the meeting, HE the Secretary-General of the Advisory Council Fahad bin Mubarak al-Khayareen read the agenda which was agreed upon.
The Council reviewed the following two draft laws:
1. A draft law on civil decorations.
2. A draft law on the official gazette.
The council decided to refer them to the Legal and Legislative Affairs committee for further study and a report.
Meanwhile, the Advisory Council’s Legal and Legislative Affairs Committee yesterday held its 44th regular session under the chairmanship of its Rapporteur Nasser Serayea al-Kaabi.
The committee studied the following two draft laws:
1. A draft law on civil decorations.
2. A draft law on the official gazette.
The committee decided to submit a report to the Advisory Council.
Qatar attends Arab customs panel meeting

The 16th meeting of the Customs committee on procedures and information began here yesterday at the headquarters of the General Secretariat of the Arab League.
Director of Customs Procedures Unit at General Authority of Customs Issa Rashid al-Suwaidi led Qatar’s delegation to the meeting.
The four-day event will discuss important topics, in particular the member states’ observations on a draft model for Arab unified customs declaration circulated by the Arab League’s secretariat-general.
Al Thakira Girls Forum plans Ramadan events
Al Thakira Girls Forum of the Ministry of Culture and Sports is organising religious and cultural activities during the holy month of Ramadan.
The Forum has begun registering for Ramadan’s competitions to memorise Juz Amma and Tabaraka of the Holy Qur’an for mothers and girls.
The competitions aim at encouraging Muslim generations to memorise and recite the Holy Qur’an.
RAF funding training centre for Syrian refugees

Sheikh Thani Bin Abdullah Foundation for Humanitarian Services (RAF) yesterday announced funding the Al Amal Vocational Training Centre in Halba, the capital of the Akkar District in the North Governorate of Lebanon, with an operating cost of QR375,000 annually.
The organisation said in a press statement that the Centre is expected to house 400 students annually in five training professional disciplines which are: sewing, electricity, electronics, hospitality and crafts for women, in order to equip youth with the necessary skills needed to get job opportunities.
QC holds marine arbitration workshop
Qatar Chamber (QC) is organising today a workshop on the marine arbitration culture and its role in settling disputes and the protection of marine investments.
The workshop is sponsored by Qatar International Centre for Conciliation and Arbitration. The event would focus on the various alternative legal tools to resolve commercial and business disputes outside the court to save the time and cost of conventional litigation methods, which would positively reflect on business transactions in the country.
The trainees will get introduced to the proper standards of forming and writing marine arbitration contracts and their terms and conditions, the necessary legal background of the topic, and the challenges and difficulties involved in securing effective arbitration deals. Legal experts in the field would be lecturing at the workshop.
