Ashghal organises site visits to its projects

The Public Works Authority (Ashghal) has held a number of visits to its project sites over the past few months for different sections of society.
The initiative is part of the implementation of Ashghal’s community outreach programme, which aims to promote awareness about its projects across the country and keep the public informed about their development stages, the progress made and the current works on the ground, the authority has said in a statement.
Site visits and tours are conducted throughout the year as part of the programme. These include presentations by project engineers, which explain the project details and benefits.
The tours organised in the last couple of months included a site visit to the Doha North Sewage Treatment Works project, wherein Ashghal invited a number of students from Hamad Bin Khalid University (HBKU) and faculty members from Qatar Environment and Energy Research Institute.
Attendees from Ashghal included Jassim Salman al-Sayegh, design engineering adviser at Infrastructure Affairs; Rashid Arqoub al-Khaldi, projects engineering adviser at the Drainage Projects Department; Kevin Richards, senior projects engineer at Drainage Projects; and Raymond Malik, design engineer at the Drainage Networks Design Department.
The authority organised, in collaboration with Qatar University (QU), a visit to its headquarters. It was aimed at introducing  major infrastructure projects to 26 students from the faculty of management and economics at QU. The students were received by a number of public relations officials at Ashghal and Jaafar Mustafa, infrastructure projects adviser.
During the visit, the students watched a video explaining the main aspects of the infrastructure projects. At the end of the visit, the authority presented certificates of appreciation to the students and also received a certificate of appreciation from QU for its efforts and collaboration with the university.
The authority also organised, in collaboration with Qatar Leadership Academy, a site visit for students to the Lusail Expressway project. Prior to the tour, project engineers gave a presentation that included a detailed explanation of the project and its benefits. Students then completed their tour.
In March, Ashghal invited a group of administrators and athletes to the Al Wakra Bypass project. An explanation of the project’s importance was given during the tour and the visitors were also shown the works being currently implemented on the ground.
The authority invited a group of students from Al Ahnaf Bin Qais Preparatory School for Boys to its headquarters. During the visit, students met Yaser Mustafa al-Janahi, head of Engineering Business Support, and Ahmad Fathi from the Buildings Projects Department.
Ashghal also invited 26 students from the College of Arts and Sciences (CAS) at Qatar University to the fifth expansion (package) of the Doha West Sewage Treatment Works project site. Khalid al-Qahtani from the Drainage Networks Projects Department briefed them on the details and benefits of the project and the students also undertook a tour of the site.
