Qatar Leadership Academy (QLA) honoured its Class of 2016 at a graduation ceremony held at Qatar National Convention Centre on Wednesday.
Brigadier Ali Ahmed al-Kuwari, director of QLA, addressed the 18 students during the ceremony, which was held under the patronage of HE Major General Ghanem bin Shaheen al-Ghanem, Chief of Staff of the Qatari Armed Forces, and attended by Major General Mubarak bin Saeed al-Khayarin, Assistant Chief of Staff for Education.
Brigadier al-Kuwari said the ceremony represents the culmination of a long academic journey, which is marked by outstanding efforts that have helped the students fulfil the requirements of QLA.
“The best gift you can ever offer us is to distinguish yourselves and acknowledge the academy’s role in making you proud of your achievements. We will continue to serve you and guide you beyond this graduation ceremony,” he added.
A number of graduates were recognised during the ceremony for their accomplishments over the last few years. Tamim Abdulrahman SM al-Hoori was awarded “Best Academic Performance”, while Abdulla Ibrahim A A al-Sada was presented with the “Leadership Award”.
Al-Hoori, also this year’s valedictorian, addressed his fellow graduates. “At Qatar Leadership Academy, we have gained the most valued knowledge of our lives, which is that learning doesn’t end here. We have to continue to strive to achieve our targets and use what we have gained to make valuable contributions to our country for the benefit of future generations,” he said.
During the ceremony, a drill was performed by the students, which was followed by the national anthem. The event came to a close after the diplomas were awarded.
QLA, a member of Qatar Foundation for Education, Science and Community Development (QF), was formed in 2005 under the leadership of chairperson HE Sheikh Joaan bin Hamad al-Thani, as the result of an innovative partnership between QF and the Qatar Armed Forces.
Designed to promote personal growth in young men, the academy takes a holistic approach to youth development, providing the highest standards of education to develop young men into future leaders.
