Qatar University (QU) has been honoured with the Partnership Award of Appreciation for the fourth consecutive year by the energy and industry sector.
This comes in recognition of its activities in knowledge exchange and expertise and provision of human capital to companies in the sector.
QU president Dr Hassan Rashid al-Derham received the award from the sector’s Strategic Qatarisation Committee chairman, Hamad A al-Hammadi, recently.
The award was earlier announced in the sector’s 16th Annual Qatarisation Review Meeting, which was attended by HE the Minister of Energy and Industry Dr Mohamed bin Saleh al-Sada and senior executives and representatives from the 37 participating companies in the sector’s Strategic Qatarisation Plan.
It recognises and honours the “most outstanding partnership that exemplifies support to companies in the plan or to the energy and industry sector as a whole, in a calendar year”, according to a statement.
Commenting on the award, Dr al-Derham said: “This is a proud moment to receive such a prestigious award for the fourth year and to be recognised among our distinguished partners for our contribution to the sector and to the State of Qatar.
“We do not take this honour lightly as it comes with a responsibility and commitment to the Qatari society that we will continue to strengthen and advance in our role as the country’s first national higher education institution and standard bearer of its cultural and intellectual heritage.”
