Anti-Doping Lab Qatar (ADLQ) will be organising its sixth annual symposium under the patronage of Qatar Olympic Committee president HE Sheikh Joaan bin Hamad al-Thani at Doha Marriott Hotel from May 31-June 1.
The symposium will be held right after WADA 13th Asia/Oceania Intergovernmental Ministerial Meeting on Anti-Doping in Sport. The meeting will take place today at the same venue and will be attended by senior WADA officials and a number of ministers of Sport and Youth from 34 countries of the region. The meeting discusses the countries’ efforts and strategies in fighting doping in sport in addition to the challenges they face.
The two-day symposium, which has been titled Anti-Doping in Humans and Animals: Parallels and Divergences, will have participation of many experts from the field of anti-doping and veterinary medicine.
The annual symposium will discuss many topics related to the theme, especially camel and horse-racing, which has seen increase in interest and popularity from around the world.
WADA director general Davis Howman is among the many guests expected to participate in the symposium, in addition to scientists and doctors from both Qatar and abroad.
ADLQ is one of the few laboratories that will be analysing doping samples from animals as well in the near future.
