The Ministry of Administrative Development, Labour and Social Affairs (MADLSA) yesterday announced that the implementation of the Ministerial Decree No16 of 2007 determining the working hours in open work places during the summer will start on June 15.
The decision stipulates that starting from June 15 to August 31 the working hours must not be longer than five hours in the morning and not beyond 11.30am. The evening working hours must not start before 3pm.
Employers must place the working hours’ timetable at the workplace, according to the decree.
The timetable should be in a visible place where all workers can see and labour inspectors can easily notice during their inspection visits.
The Ministry of Administrative Development and Labour called upon the owners of establishments to respect the provisions of the decision and warned that any company violating the decree will be closed for a period not exceeding one month.
