QVC beat Al Shaqab Real Estate by 6 wickets to clinch the 1st Mohamed Shamlan Memorial Cricket Tournament for Division II.
The tournament had the top 8 teams of Division II compete on a knockout basis and was played at M.I.C Sports Complex - Umm Mesaieed. The event was sponsored by Qatar Lubricants Co. The tournament was dedicated to the late Mohammed Shamlan as a remembrance of his immense contribution to the development of local cricket in Qatar.
Al Shaqab Real Estate won the toss and elected to bat first. However good bowling and fielding saw Al Shaqab Real Estate being all out for 58 runs in 13 overs. No one could reach double figures. Mumtaz scored 9 runs with a six, Atiq and Yousef added 8 runs each.
Sanjay took 3 Wkts, Indika 2, while Rifas, Qazi, Jameel, Shaman and Milhan took a wicket each.
In reply, QVC got off to good start and were 33 for no loss after six overs. However, good bowling by Al Shaqab Real Estate saw QVC lose five wickets in next nine overs. But QVC managed to reach the target in 11.1 overs. Milhan was the top scorer with 14, which included 3 boundaries and Rifas made 11 runs with a six. For Al Shaqab Real Estate, Amjad Mirza took a hat-trick and Imran took 2 wickets
