Prime Minister sends message to Oman’s deputy PM
HE Prime Minister and Minister of Interior Sheikh Abdullah bin Nasser bin Khalifa al-Thani has sent a written message to Omani Deputy Prime Minister for Cabinet Affairs Sayyid Fahd bin Mahmood al-Said, pertaining to means of strengthening and advancing co-operation between the two brotherly countries.
The message was handed over by Qatar’s ambassador to Oman Ali bin Fahad Faleh al-Shahwani al-Hajri during a meeting yesterday with the Secretary General of the Council of Ministers Sheikh al-Fadhl bin Mohamed bin Ahmed al-Harthy.
During the meeting, they discussed bilateral relations and ways of strengthening ties between Qatar and Oman within the framework of the great attention given by the leadership in both countries.
Qatar attends Arab mining body meeting
Qatar participated in the ministerial meeting of the General Assembly of the Arab Industrial Development and Mining Organisation, which was held yesterday in Rabat in Morocco.
Qatar’s delegation was headed by HE the Minister of Energy and Industry Dr Mohamed bin Saleh al-Sada. The meeting discussed topics on the agenda including the report of the executive council on its activities between the two sessions of the General Assembly (23rd -24th) and the draft strategy for the organisation and a road map for 2017-2020.
The participants reviewed the reports presented to the assembly, including the report of the legal auditor of accounts and the report of the financial and administrative oversight body for 2014-2015, and the internal auditor’s report on the work of the organisation for 2014-2015.
Qatar-France ties reviewed
HE the Minister of Municipality and Environment Mohamed bin Abdullah al-Rumaihi met French ambassador to Qatar Eric Chevallier yesterday.
Talks during the meeting focused on enhancing co-operation between Qatar and France in municipal the environmental areas.
NHRC chief meets Bangladesh envoy
Chairman of the National Human Rights Committee (NHRC) Dr Ali bin Samikh al-Marri yesterday met the ambassador of Bangladesh Achod Ahmed.
They discussed co-operation in matters of common concern and measures to activate mechanisms to exchange expertise in areas of humanitarian issues.
Qatar takes part in UN assembly
Qatar took part in the second session of the UN Environment Assembly with a delegation led by Qatar’s ambassador to Kenya Ibrahim bin Mohamed al-Abdullah.
The General Assembly, which was held under the overarching theme “Delivering on the environmental dimension of the 2030 Agenda for sustainable development”, highlighted the environmental issues and challenges facing the world.
It was attended by Kenya’s President Uhuru Kenyatta along with more than 2,000 environment ministers and heads of international organisations.
