HE the Prime Minister and Minister of Interior Sheikh Abdullah bin Nasser bin Khalifa al-Thani yesterday inaugurated the first phase of the electronic security shield project at the headquarters of the National Command Centre.
The inauguration was attended by various ministers, officials and directors of Interior Ministry’s departments.
The project seeks to increase the level of electronic security in Qatar and enhance IT infrastructure and electronic network protection.
The project’s electronic security operation room will focus on a set of goals to assist Qatar’s institutions and bodies and protect its IT infrastructure against electronic security threats as well as co-operate with authorities concerned to enact security policies and provide training and consultancy relating to electronic security.
The security operation room will provide advanced levels of protection to other security
operations centres in the country.
It will undertake many tasks, including surveillance of IT infrastructure in different government agencies and institutions to detect and analyse cyber threats as well as respond to cyber incidents and enhance access to cybersecurity status quo in the country, in addition to building expertise and specialised Qatari personnel.
It will also co-operate with international partners and exchange information on cyber threats and respond to incidents that require co-ordination at the global level, among other tasks.
