The Ministry of Economy and Commerce (MEC), in co-operation with bakery owners, has unveiled its fifth initiative aimed at boosting the productivity of bakeries during Ramadan.
The initiative is the fifth of a series of campaigns launched by the MEC to mark the holy month of Ramadan under the theme “Aqal Min Al Wajeb”, Arabic for “the least we can do”.
“The initiative aims to bolster the productivity of bakeries and support this vital sector, which has witnessed a growth of 48% in 2015 and 2016. The initiative also ensures that citizens and residents have access to basic high-quality commodities,” the ministry has said in a statement.
The MEC has completed all preparations, in co-operation with bakeries, to ensure that there is sufficient supply of commodities that are high in demand throughout the holy month of Ramadan, including bread, samosas, pies and various pastries, in addition to fried potatoes and other fried foods and products.
The MEC has unveiled a variety of initiatives to mark Ramadan 2016, which come within the framework of its efforts to provide community-oriented services, designed to cover all aspects of the ministry’s activities in terms of organisation, partnership and support.
These initiatives include sheep subsidies and price reductions on consumer goods, in addition to organising a number of awareness forums and campaigns on trade in Islam, as well as the “Halal Livelihood” programme on the MEC’s YouTube channel.
The MEC has also launched the discounted consumer goods initiative and Al Baraka corporate social responsibility programme, and will launch the “Iktisadi” bank card campaign, as well as another campaign to regulate gold and jewellery businesses.
The ministry has invited the public to follow its various accounts on social media networks, including Instagram, Snapchat and YouTube, under the name MEC_QATAR and to subscribe to its WhatsApp account at 66111400.
