HH Sheikha Moza bint Nasser, chairperson of the Education Above All foundation, with Italian Prime Minister Matteo Renzi, in the Palazzo Chigi in Rome, yesterday. They discussed topics related to providing quality education to refugees. Prime Minister Renzi explained what his government was doing to help refugees in Italy and what efforts it was undertaking, alongside other world powers, to alleviate the suffering in Syria and support diplomatic efforts to end the conflict there. Drawing on the work of her initiatives, as well as her role as a UN advocate for the 2030 sustainable development goals, HH Sheikha Moza discussed with the prime minister how refugee communities often described education as their top priority, recognising the opportunity that education gave them to fulfil their lives and for their families to prosper. Education Above All, which Sheikha Moza established in 2012, has invested to provide primary education for almost 7mn children and is on track to reach 10mn by the end of the year. This will include more than 1mn Syrian refugees. PICTURE: AR Al-Baker/HHOPL
