A Dutchman has been missing in the central mountains of Nepal for two weeks, authorities said yesterday.
Rescuers were searching for a man named Christian Wilson in the Dhaulagiri Mountain region, where he was trekking, the chief officer of Myagdi district said.
“We’ve received information that the Dutchman was out of contact and because this is in the high-altitude mountains, the rescuers are searching for him by helicopter,” Kesav Raj Acharya said over phone.
“We can’t predict anything right now, as bad weather in the region has also obstructed the search operation. But the search mission is on.”
Wilson had been expected to arrive at a hotel on his return from the base camp of Dhaulariri mountain.
Another Dutch citizen died due to altitude sickness last month on Mount Everest.
