Qatar’s leading petrochemical company, Qapco, has received its fifth Annual Qatarisation Crystal Award for its efforts in “Supporting and Liaising with the Education Sector” during 2015.
The award was presented by HE Dr Mohamed bin Saleh al-Sada, Minister of Energy and Industry and chairman of Qatar Petroleum, together with Saad Sherida al-Kaabi, president and CEO of QP, during the Qatar Energy and Industry Sector’s Annual Qatarisation Review meeting.
On receiving the award, Dr Mohamed Yousef al-Mulla, Qapco managing director and CEO, said: “Receiving this Qatarisation award for our support to Qatar’s education sector is an honour and a clear demonstration of how we are successfully integrating Qatarisation into our business strategy, operations and results.
“At Qapco, we are fully committed to engaging with local universities, colleges and schools, especially through our investment in research and development and through the promotion of science, technology, engineering and mathematics education. We believe this will play a vital role in the future of Qatar’s energy industry.”
Qapco has collected seven Qatarisation accolades since 2009, spanning four categories.
These include five Crystal awards as well as recognition for supporting student scholarships, supporting training and development and for supporting the country’s and industry’s overall Qatarisation goals.
Qapco chief human capital officer Abdulla Ahmad Naji described winning the award as “a landmark achievement for Qapco.”
He said: “We are incredibly appreciative of receiving yet another Qatarisation award. It recognises the great strides we are making through our educational programmes and interactions with students and the academic community, to inspire, encourage and support a new generation of petrochemical experts and leaders.”
